Hapag Lloyd's 14,000-TEU Wide Bravo damaged in Atlantic storm

Jan.11--GERMANY's Hapag Lloyd has revealed that its 14,000-TEU Wide Bravo was damaged in heavy weather on its way from Genoa to London's Tilbury Dock.

"With regret that we have to inform you that the vessel MV Wide Bravo?voyage 6002S was damaged," said the sparse release.

"The damage is so severe that the vessel needs to be repaired in Rotterdam and the repairs will take approximately until January 11," said Hapag Lloyd.

To maintain the schedule integrity and avoid delays, Genoa, Marseilles-Fos and Sydney will be dropped from the rotation on the return voyage of the Europe Australia Express (EAX).

"All cargo for port of discharge Genoa that has already been loaded in Rotterdam will be discharged in Damietta [Egypt] and transshipped on the next EAX northbound vessel to call at Genoa," said the statement.

"All Sydney cargo which has already been loaded in Rotterdam will be transshipped in Melbourne to other services for final discharge Sydney," said Hapag Lloyd.
